A commercial vehicle policy is a great way to help protect the small business you've worked so hard to grow. This kind of insurance helps safeguard your business from financial loss when one of your company's vans, cars, or trucks is part of an auto accident. Depending on the type of business you own or manage, Tennessee may require that you purchase a commercial policy.

Commercial vehicle insurance isn't a good fit for everyone, but it could be right for you if you use your car or truck to do activities that relate to your business. Let's say you use your vehicle to transport people or good for a fee. Or, you haul tools or equipment related to your business. These two situations could mean a commercial policy is right for you. If your employees drive company-owned vehicles or your vehicle is titled in the name of your business, you could also be eligible for one.

What Tennessee Drivers Need to Know About New State Insurance Laws

As of July 1, 2015, the fine for uninsured drivers caught driving without insurance in Tennessee increased from $100 to $300. After January 1, 2016, law enforcement agents could have you car immediately towed away if you cannot provide proof that your vehicle is properly insured. From now until January 1, 2017, Tennessee will be creating an online insurance verification program. The system has the ability to identify drivers who have not purchased valid insurance through their vehicle registration information.
